About Lyn Davis
It’s always nice to know about the person or company behind the web site, so here’s my story……… My name is Lyn Davis (short, sweet and simple to remember). In fact, Lyn is an abbreviation of my first name, but all my friends call me Lyn! I’m a single Mum with an adorable 14 year old son called Adam. He loves to play football, so time goes very quickly when weekends are spent rushing from one football session, to another! Career wise, I’ve spent the last 20+ years working in Education and Science Research. I enjoy my work, but like a lot of people, I got fed up with the drudgery of working ‘9 to 5’ and wanted to do something more with my life. I’ve always been interested in Wellness, Health, Beauty, Anti aging……. In fact, I think that Science and Wellness go hand in hand. Because after all, what we eat can determine how we look and feel. And the creams, lotions and serums we put on our face and body also influence how we look and feel. So it’s all inter-related. I belong to the Baby Boomer Generation, so Wellness has become even more important to me, and I’m sure it is for you too In fact, according to social entrepreneur Professor Paul Zane Pilzer, Wellness is the next Trillion Dollar Industry for the 21st Century. And it’s being driven for the most part by the Baby Boomer Generation.
Bringing up Adam hasn’t been easy. Whilst he was still very young I had a very demanding employer. At the time I worked nearly 100 miles away from home. This meant a hectic motorway drive first thing Monday mornings (I was up at 4am ready to make the journey), being away from my adorable Son all week, then completing an equally exhausting 100 mile drive home on Friday evenings. I did this for 3 years. And although I enjoyed my work, my schedule was pretty exhausting. And I would never have managed were it not for my Mum. She passed away 9 years ago, and I still miss her to this day. Mum gave me the opportunity to be able to work and bring up my son, keep on top of bills and pay the mortgage. But I always felt there had to be any easier way to enjoy life. Please don’t get me wrong, I believe in working hard to achieve your goals in life, but goals should be achieved by working smarter, not working harder.
Those 100 mile journeys forced me to do some serious thinking. And I started to ask myself the question: “How can I generate my own Income?” Because I didn’t want to be making 100 mile journeys backwards and forwards every week-end for the rest of my working life. So, after I decided to take a lesser paid education post nearer to home, I bought into a Franchise running a Maid Service Agency. It was very hard work, running an Agency in the evenings whilst holding down a full-time education post. But I’d decided that this was going to be my route to financial freedom for myself and my son. And for those of you who run a traditional business, you understand exactly how hard a business is to run. I was traveling to see clients and workers, dealing with payroll, sending out, receiving and dealing with correspondence, training workers, understanding employment law, perfecting customer service, meeting bills, invoices, marketing, advertising………..the list just went on and on. And all this whilst working full-time and looking after a young son! Many nights I only had 2 hours’ sleep. But I ran my Maid Service Agency for nearly 4 years. And in spite of the many challenges I faced, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Because running traditional, hands on business taught me many valuable skills. It was a steep learning curve and I had to learn quickly. And I have to admit that when the Franchise came up for renewal, I was happy to relinquish. But I didn’t lose sight of the fact that running your own business can produce the goal of financial freedom. And financial freedom is what I definitely wanted.
Internet Technology has become a very powerful force over the last 10 years. It’s powerful because it can position you in front of a world wide audience. I think it was Bill Gates who said “If you’re not in business globally by having a Web site, then you’re not in business” So I began to realize the Global potential of being able to run a successful business with the help of Internet Technology. Because Internet Technology can help to free you from many of the constraints often associated with traditional business. Constraints such as: The costs associated with marketing and advertising The costs associated with communicating with people. The costs and responsibilities of employing people The costs associated with overheads such as premises, rents and business rates. Internet Technology can help you start a business: i) Part – time, ii) Working from home, iii) Around your children, or other members of your family iv) Around the hours that suit you to work v) On a very small budget In fact, Internet Technology means that there is nothing stopping you from generating a very successful enterprise. Whatever you want that enterprise to be. And Internet Technology is helping me do just that.
I believe to be successful and achieve your goals, you must have 2 things in place: i) A positive mindset. ii) A system of tools to help you. So I’d like to share with you what I’m using to help me achieve my business goals: A book which has been around for many years but still has timely principles is called ‘Think and Grow Rich’, written by Napoleon Hill. It is one of the best selling, self-help books of all time. You can read it for free here. And Robert Kiyosaki’s book Rich Dad Poor Dad really opened my mind as to why some people are able to create wealth, whilst other people remain poor their entire lives, although they may be in work and even on a high income salary.
